EPA adds three safer disinfectants to List N (Alpet D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer, Coleslaw, and Multi-Purpose Plus Disinfectant Cleaner)
EPA added three safer disinfectants to List N. One of them, from Reckitt Benckiser LLC has the amusing name, “Coleslaw.” Best Sanitizers Inc. actually noted the safer status right in product name, with the words “Quat-Free” in the sanitizer name. All three disinfectants are used in healthcare and institutional settings, while two (Coleslaw and the Multi-Purpose disinfectant) are additionally used in residential settings. Not surprisingly, Coleslaw includes ethanol in the list of active ingredients, as does the Alpet Quat-Free sanitizer.
Since August 220, some disinfectants are moving their status from “Kills a harder-to-kill pathogen than SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)” to the more specific claim that it definitely kills SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Still, only 6% of the disinfectants on the list have that more specific tested claim.
