The EPA adds two increased-risk (OmniSan Anolyte, and Solvent Free Detergent Disinfectant Pump Spray) and one safer (Profect HP) disinfectant to list N

Today the EPA added two increased-risk (OmniSan Anolyte, and Solvent Free Detergent Disinfectant Pump Spray) and one safer (Profect HP) disinfectant to list N.

Both increased-risk disinfectants contain chlorine: OmniSan Anolyte contains hypochlorous acid, while Solvent Free Detergent Disinfectant Pump Spray contains quaternary ammonium as its active ingredient. Profect HP from the Spartan Chemical Company contains safer hydrogen peroxide. All three disinfectants are used on hard non-porous surfaces in healthcare, institutional, and residential use sites. Additionally, the pump spray and Profect HP may be used on items that have contact with food such as dishes, countertops and cooking utensils.

Several other updates were made to the list. A number of disinfectants were given an updated reason for appearing on “List N,” noting that it was “Tested against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)” Previously these messages said “Kills a harder-to-kill pathogen than SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)” There are still 294 items on the list that make note of the “Kills harder-to-kill pathogen…” reason for appearing on the list
